The course evaluation was conducted using a questionnary that was filled by students (see Appendix 1). This document includes:

  • A first descriptive part of the students which were enrolled and participated to this course and its evaluation.
  • The second part relates to the overall assessment of the training session
  • The third section deals with the educational side of the course (choice, objectives...)
  • The fourth section assesses the course's organization
  • The Conclusion assesses satisfaction and any recommendations

This evaluation is based on 19 records from five male students (4 physicists and informatician) and 14 female students in biology and 2 students in medicine.

Answers have been entered on an excel sheet and statistical analysis were made by using SPSS.

Results show :

  • The course was very interesting, dense and of medium difficulty. Repetition observed in 48.46% of cases mainly concerned autoimmune diseases' theme. However, these repetitions are a logic link between the different presentations. This concatenation was appreciated and recommended by students. Moreover, it is noteworthy that the prevalence of biologists (14 students) compared to physicists (4 +1) in the number of students, explains 37.5% of the types of the most popular answers for the autoimmune diseases issue compared to 12.5% ​​of the answsers concerning the image analysis
  • Pedagogically course objectives were well-defined (81.5%) and were in line with those of the AIDA project which allowed to reach the end of teaching in 74.21% of cases. Furthermore, the interactive mode, so appreciated for this course was satisfying 77.36%. However, it was noted that two main problems :
    1. The imbalance of the time allotted to each of the two topics (image analysis and autoimmune diseases). Indeed, if the time was on average half an hour for each chapter on autoimmune diseases, it was over an hour to the various interventions of image analysis with a loss of concentration and consequently poorer assimilation.
    2. Language teaching. Even if all the power-points of different interventions were prepared in English, the majority of the course was presented in Italian
  • Concerning course's organization, the overall satisfactionreached78%.This averageis 80% and concerns facilitiesas well as equipment.It should be notedthattheregistrationdesk, organizationalstaffand roompresentations should be separated and would be appreciated.Many timesthe course wasdisturbed by unintentional discussions between staff's members.
  • Overall satisfaction is evaluated to :
    1. 80.5% on satisfaction concerning teachers involvement, effectiveness and interest.
    2. 79.4% for the pedagogical content
    3. 74.7% for knowledge acquisition by students

In addition, to the question "should the course be improved or modified", 10 out of 19 (53%) answered no and were satisfied

Suggestions for the next training session scheduled in Tunisia :

    1. Balancing allotted time to each topic and each chapters
    2. Choosing english as official language with simultaneous translation (italian and / or french)
    3. Planing 2 different rooms : one for participants reception and one for the organization staff
